  • Where is SALT Research?
    SALT Research is located at SALT Galata, Bankalar Caddesi 11, Karaköy, Istanbul.

  • How can I use SALT Research during the pandemic?

    • SALT Research main study hall is open from Tuesday to Saturdays between 11.00 and 17.00, by appointment only. The space is open for a limited use until further notice. Priority will be given to those wishing to use our publication collection for research purposes. The Ferit F. Şahenk Hall will reopen at a later date.

    • SALT Research archive collections on “Art,” “Architecture and Design,” “City, Society, and Economy” are available online.

    SALT Research is open to all.
    All services are free.

  • How can I use SALT Research Ferit F. Şahenk Hall?
    Registration is required to use SALT Research Ferit F. Şahenk Hall, located on floor -1 at SALT Galata.

  • What days and hours is SALT Research open?
    Tuesday-Saturday 10.00-19.00, Sunday 12.00-18.00.
    Closed for Eid and Greater Eid, and national holidays.
    Closed on Sundays during July and August.

  • What days and hours is SALT Research Ferit F. Şahenk Hall open?
    Tuesday-Saturday 10.00-19.00.
    Closed for Eid and Greater Eid, and national holidays.

  • Can I borrow publications?
    Publications at SALT Research are non-circulating. They are searchable from the online catalogue, and available at SALT Research on the ground floor and SALT Research Ferit F. Şahenk Hall on floor -1.

  • How can I access the archive?
    All digitized archive collections can be accessed through the online catalogue.

  • How can I access rare publications?
    Rare publications are available for research upon request at SALT Research. Please ask a staff member for assistance.

  • How can I use the Hüseyin Bahri Alptekin Library?
    The Hüseyin Bahri Alptekin Library is available for research upon request at SALT Research. Please ask a staff member for assistance.

  • Are there computers available for researcher use?
    Computers are available to users.

  • Is it possible to watch DVDs?
    The computers and the VIEW area at SALT Research, and the additional computers at SALT Research Ferit F. Şahenk Hall can be used to watch DVDs.

  • What is the rights statement for digital documents and sources at SALT Research collections?

  • How can I make a reservation to use study areas at SALT Research Ferit F. Şahenk Hall?
    Registered users can make a reservation here to use the CORNER and ROOM areas.
